I am the last of a dying breed: a man who supports the orange and blue through years of being mired in mediocrity. So now that both the present and future look at least slightly bright, I invite you to jump back on the orange and blue bandwagon.

The new Knicks even boast a white guy! And he is also, perhaps, the backbone of this team! And his name even lends itself to the possibility of being Jewish (which he’s actually not)!

If you’re not yet sold, we also have a point guard who’s clinically insane, shoots too much, claims to be “the glue” even though he’s been known as one of the single-most selfish players in the league for years, we have a two-guard who shoots in the high %30 range and weighs 123 pounds and a frontline that consists of one former Portland Jailblazer/misdemeanor-ridden center and a former-Bull turned hostage-in-his-own-home who weighs 423 pounds!

Still not sold? How about a racist, sexist, misogynistic pig for a coach? Not good enough? How about a portly, slovenly, recovering addict/billion-dollar-baby for an owner? Now you’re interested…I knew you would be. Follow me to the 2008 NBA Championship…see you in June.  And don’t forget: BRING BACK OAK!!

I have always been tall, and I have always played basketball, fairly decently.  But I could never dunk.  Well, that’s not entirely true.  Maybe once or twice when I was perfectly loose but not too tired, and all the stars were aligned….but, basically, I have never been able to dunk.I grew up in the DC area, and the Bullets were the only team on TV regularly, but I always loved the Knicks. Now, being fortunate enough to see them all the time, I love them just as much as ever, but like most fans, feel like they rip my heart out over and over during the course of one season.  There is no comparison though, MSG is the mecca of basketball, and the Knicks are my team.

I’m a student at the University at Albany with a sparkling 2.3 GPA. I major in economics & business with the hopes of discovering why I’m always broke (maybe the liquor has something to do with it). I’ve been a Knicks fan since ’91 & a Giants fan since ’90. I was supposed to be drafted by the Knicks but injuries derailed that dream. Well, that and a glaring lack of skill in basketball. I’m what you may call a loyal NY fan. No matter how bad the Knicks sometimes play (exhibit A: the past seven years) I’ll always be a fan. When they do win no one can call me a bandwagon fan. As for the Giants, they’ve always had either a great or pretty good physical defense (except last year’s “cornerbacks”). I’ve always liked watching defense over offense. I mean when a running back breaks four tackles and then gets beheaded by a linebacker, who doesn’t like seeing that? No one remembers touchdown catches, but everyone remembers what happened to Reggie Bush when he played the Eagles. That’s me in a nutshell. Uuuhhh not the hitting part, the being a NY fan part.
