1-1

Road loss to defending Eastern champs Cleveland and home victory to young, rebuilding t-wolves.  I’ll take 1-1 right now and there were certainly positives to be taken from both.  However, some familiar problems from last year apparently haven’t been rectified.  Team defense, mainly defending the 3 point line has been, and continues to be a knick killer.  How can they let Gibson come in in the 4th quarter of the Cleveland game and knock down wide open 3 after wide open 3?  Team defense problem #2 - Just how many defensive 3 second calls is it going to take for Curry and Isiah to figure it out?  While talking about D, deserves to be pointed out that Zach looks a whole lot better on D so far than anyone expected.   The opener at Cleveland was disappointing  for a few reasons.  1) We could have won it, even without playing our best ball, and even though they didn’t upgrade during the off season and have a couple holdouts, beating the defending champs on the road to open the season would have been big. 2) Unfortunately, even while the game was competitive, you kinda knew we were gonna fold.

The home opener was a classic grind it out against a weaker, scrappy opponent.  Jefferson is a gamer, and they do the classic drag opponents down to their level strategy, so clawing out a victoy is sometimes the best you can do.  Hopefully, Nate isn’t hurt too bad (despite what Jamie says, I do like the guy, and the bench once again seriously sparked this win) and hopefully Q regains his touch.  Tomorrow we got AI and ‘melo coming to the Mecca so we’re going to need all the firepower we got as they are sure to put up some points, especially as I don’t expect we will solve our defensive problems overnight.

    1. It is irresponsible to only worry about what’s going on on the court. When the people leading a public organization - let alone the New York Knickerbockers in the media center of the universe - you not only don’t ignore it, you assume responsibility and use your voice to speak on it. Unless, that is, you’re in support of sexism and racism.

    2. Nate’s only good in pre-season? That comment needs no response…I’ll let the numbers do the talking.

    3. Who said anything about David Lee being a “dealbreaker?”

    4. Finals? Who said anything about the finals?

    5. KG and Jermaine WERE pushed for - hard. They’re not here because management is too stubborn to give up pieces they personally acquired in an effort to save face.

    6. Move on from Oak?!?!?! It’s called humor, sarcasm, buddy…jeez

    7. I think 3 people picked Chicago to win the East…and they’re all named John Paxson.

FANS: I’ve been moving for a week. Forgive my absence. Real, knowledgeable writers are back.

    BRING
    BACK
    OAK

Why can’t we all just get along? I certainly wasn’t attacking your post, and I realize it was sarcasm. I agree with a lot of what you said, I don’t see a reason for us to pick each other apart, all I’ll reply before writing my own post analyzing the first 2 games of the season is that I don’t like Chicago one bit, but if you think Pax is the only one who picked them you should seriously do some reading.

from espn (maybe you have heard of them):

    PREDICTIONS FOR THE SEASON
(updated to include the revised playoff system that started last season)

    EAST PLAYOFF TEAMS
    1. Chicago, 56-26
    2. Detroit, 50-32
    3. Boston, 49-33
    4. Miami, 43-39
    5. New Jersey, 45-37
    6. Milwaukee, 41-41
    7. Atlanta, 40-42
    8. Indiana, 40-42

    b) I didn’t say you said D Lee was a dealbreaker, but plenty of other people have. See, not everything I write is a response to you. Now maybe we can move on and talk about basketball.

Speaking of dealbreakers, anyone been falling the player formerly known as Channing Frye’s pathetic lines lately?

Well, we could get along, and we probably would in real life. But this is a blog, so in order to get people to read it, we have to disagree or it won’t be enjoyable!
And by the way, ESPN doesn’t count to me anymore. Why? Because Ric Bucher, Marc Stein, and Stephen A. Smith are the most annoying lot around. Thus, I pay them no mind (again, we’re in the blog world; I know who said what, but this is entertainment, I’m serious for a living, do I have to be serious and analytical in my spare-time, too?). It was a joke (again)! Point is, we all know Chicago is akin to the rest of the East: good, not great, good. Maybe they win the East, maybe they finish .500…neither will be surprising.

And yeah, Channing is truly feeble. I feel for him because he’s a good dude, but I’m also far from surprised. Any 6-11 PF whose scored a total of 17 points-in-the-paint in his career is bound for Europe…

And in closing, William: will you be my best friend?

Aw, shucks, you had me at “truly feeble”…agreed, on all points, but that’s no fun, so…bring it!

oh, and I do agree about espn, that was simmons, who is the worst of them all.
